The New Deal was mainly different from previous federal government programs because it went from a command economy to a mixed economy. A command economy basically lets the government handle production, investment, prices, and income; whereas, a mixed economy combines private and public enterprise. This has changed America in a plethora of ways unlike the other government programs. Also, it gave Americans more jobs with the downside of decreasing the economy. Other government programs have attempted to give people jobs in the US, but hadn't succeeded. The New Deal was similar to previous programs by making the economy worse. My grandma would list Welfare and Obamacare as a few examples. Cash for Clunkers really didn't help the economy either. :) It was similar by using socialism to help the American people, as well, even though it didn't work. Very similar in that aspect.

Nice answer Elayna. Like Arjana said the definitions at the beginning were very helpful and laid the foundation for your post. I like how you were able to tie your grandma's view point into it.

Hey Elayna! Very nice answer, just like always! I really like how you give some precise definitions at the beginning, and then support with details and some personal (or other people's) opinion.
