In the 1950s an American was generally young, looking to start a family, prosper, and move on after WWII. At this point in American history many Americans would have considered themselves conservative and were regular church goers. Because of WWII factories had been built for the construction of military vehicles, aircraft materials and parts, and navy ships and aircraft carriers. This was the beginning of luxury travel as we know it. Now that the war was over those war factories converted from military and war products to public transportation over land, through air. and over the sea to tourist destinations. WWII greatly contributed to the industry boom in the 1950s. People are creating new technology to aid everyday life, such as improvement to radios and tvs. Cars are going from antiques to modern luxury. Families are taking their RVs for vacations across the country to see all the sights, impossible without the creation and building of interstates, originally intended to escape the impending threat of a nuclear attack. After the war many parents were so devoted to providing for their families through their job and then taking the, recently abundant, opportunities for leisure that though their kids didn't want for much they were neglected. This largely caused the massive rebellion in the 60s. The typical 1950s American was hard working, setting the example for their children and future generations, and though neglect is not something I condone there is something to be said about their hard work and well earned money.
